VP of Content, Prism
About Parallel
Parallel is a producer and investor focused on health and wellness, oftentimes working alongside well-known talent to help grow our projects. It's also the publisher of Prism, who's seeking a VP of Content.
Across our three partners we have expertise in film, digital media, live entertainment, and business building. Our full team’s experience includes creative strategy, digital production, venture capital, partnership building, and branded content across all formats.
We’re the sister company of Waypoint Entertainment, a production, development and financing company that has produced numerous award-winning films.
About your role
Parallel is looking for a VP of Content to build and lead its content platform, Prism. Originally launched as a newsletter in 2021, we’re reimagining and growing Prism beyond its initial modest footprint, and you’ll be responsible for its revised strategy, relaunch, and growth plan.
You have considerable content production and management experience and are excited about building and leading something new. You’ll scale Prism into a content engine that’s multi-format (i.e. developing video, audio, and digital communities), multi-perspective (i.e. incorporating stories from influential celebrities, creators, and writers from our network), and multi-platform (i.e. expanding to YouTube and external distributors). Our goal is to tell unparalleled stories about mental, physical, and social health—essentially the go-to destination for entertaining content about the messiness (and amusingness) of the human condition. Nbd.
You have equal strengths in strategic thinking and creative instincts, and an entrepreneurial mindset. Experience managing creatives and collaborating with all kinds of contributors is a must.
As we’ll be covering some potentially thorny issues around health and wellness, strong journalistic integrity, a critical eye for data and research, and a well calibrated BS detector is crucial, as is a genuine interest in the health and wellness zeitgeist and how it intersects with pop culture.
You have extensive experience managing creative strategy, content creation, brand development, and operations across newsletters, social, video, audio, events/experiences, and licensing partnerships. In addition to owning our content approach and creative brand and values, you’ll also shape our strategies around audience development, operations, finance, and marketing, so any experience in those areas is great too.
And lastly, from a creative standpoint, you’re someone who loves to experiment with weird ideas and formats, and has lots of takes about the experience of trying to live healthily in strange times. You’re a creative risk taker with an open mind.
This role reports to the Publisher (partner at Parallel), but operates with considerable autonomy.
